MG Gallery
MG gallery, located in the Temescal neighborhood, is an artist-run space started by Kari Marboe and Adam Green in 2008. The gallery is focused on exhibiting contemporary, edgy works as well as holding events, such as Sentence Drawing Sentence with George Pfau, that engage the community in artistic practices.

JanRae Community Art Gallery
The JanRae Community Art Gallery has six show per year and features group shows of local artists.

Thelma Harris Art Gallery

WELL is a store, gallery and healing space dedicated to supporting local artists and independent designers, inspiring viewers, and promoting balance.



Rowan Morrison Gallery
Both a contemporary art gallery and artist’s bookstore. They specialize in fine art books, small edition prints, unique paper goods, and self-published zines. The gallery also publishes their own editions of art books, prints, and original paper goods.

Rock Paper Scissors Collective
The volunteer-run Rock Paper Scissors Collective fosters creativity and collaboration in order to strengthen local communities. The collective promotes the sharing of ideas, skills, and resources through the celebration of art, craft, education, and performance.

Johansson Projects
Johansson Projects is a new gallery that brings a skillful, spare touch to the heart of the burgeoning Oakland scene. Highlights include works from emerging and established artists and a permanent fake grass ceiling.

Mercury 20
Mercury 20 presents ongoing group exhibitions in the gallery. The artwork changes monthly and features new work from the gallery artists. Mercury 20 Gallery is an artist-run gallery in the heart of downtown Oakland; part of the emerging arts district in the Broadway/Telegraph corridor.

The Great Wall of Oakland
Free outdoor screenings of experimental media art, First Fridays after dark. Sponsored by Metrovation, the Oakland Public Art Program and the residents of Broadway Grand.


Maniac Gallery
Maniac is an alternative gallery space in Downtown Oakland with a focus on curation as social statement and narrative featuring emerging contemporary artists in context. Maniac presents programs every 4-6 weeks.

African American Museum and Library
This branch of the Oakland Public Library regularly hosts traveling and original exhibitions in its second floor museum.


Craft and Cultural Arts Gallery
One of the largest spaces of its kind, the Gallery hosts six shows per year. Catch artist talks, performances and live music on Third Thursdays.




Sculpture Court
The Oakland Museum of California Sculpture Court at City Center is a collaboration between the Oakland Museum of California and the 1111 Broadway Building. Rotating exhibitions throughout the year.

The Quarterly at Latham Square
Features exhibits in the lobby of Oakland’s exquisite landmark Latham Square Building. Every three months, a new exhibit is launched with a Third Thursday reception from 5-7pm.

Oakland Art Gallery

Awaken Cafe
Awaken Cafe is a green business, world-class espresso bar, and art gallery in the heart of Downtown Oakland. AC's business practices and facilities are ecologically sustainable and the Gallery features talented local artists.


FiveTen Studio
Fiveten specializes in functional limited edition objects and furniture. It is an art gallery, retail, and design studio space dedicated to the promotion of local designers, artists and craftsmen.

Mignonne
This boutique has unique new and vintage pieces for the home and features a new Bay Area artist each month on its walls.



Oakland Museum of California
The Oakland Museum of California provides unique collections, exhibitions and educational opportunities designed to generate a broader and deeper understanding of and interest in California’s environment, history, art and people.

Laney College Art Gallery
The gallery is open September to June and exhibits work that celebrates the rich ethnic, cultural and philosophical diversities inherent at Laney College.



ProArts Gallery
Promoting East Bay Arts Since 1974! Pro Arts is a nonprofit artbased membership organization focusing on visual art. Pro Arts produces the longest running regional art event-East Bay Open Studios every spring.

Swarm Studios & Gallery
Swarm is a contemporary art gallery located in Oakland’s Ironworks district. Swarm represents emerging and mid-career artists working in a broad range of media.Combined with a Project Space dedicated to new media and installations, Swarm’s program strives for high standards of presentation and curatorial integrity.

Cricket Engine Gallery
Located in a former military infirmary, this gallery functions as an artist collective and gallery space.

FLOAT Gallery
Urban art spa committed to providing an ever changing space that showcases local artists, and provides an opportunity to unwind, float and open up the creative channels in all of us.


Institute of Mosaic Art
The Institute of Mosaic Art is a premier school offering courses for all levels. IMA also offers a retail space and showcases mosaic exhibitions of student and professional work.


Mills College Art Museum
The Museum strives to engage and inspire the diverse and distinctive cultures of the Bay Area by presenting innovative exhibitions by emerging and established national and international artists.
